Gite S'storickenascht ****
Our s'Storickenascht gite is located on the second floor of Maison 1603.Its original half-timbering and ceilings (1603) will plunge you into another era! Wood panelling on the walls and solid fir parquet flooring complete the warm ambience. The gite is ideal for a stay with family or friends in any season: it will be your cosy cocoon, where simplicity and authenticity are the watchwords. One of the characteristic rooms of the Alsatian house is the “Stub", which translates as ’living room”.This is where the evening gatherings were held. It usually featured a corner bench leaning against a wood-panelled wall. The bench and woodwork were missing from the house, so we set about restoring the charm of yesteryear to this essential part of the Alsatian home. And the result lives up to our expectations: the impression that the work has always been there, just like the antique furniture found in the various rooms.Just behind the dining area, you'll find a small room that feeds the 19th-century Kachlofen that originally heated the entire floor. This space is also ideal for storing groceries. The fridge and breakfast area will be waiting for you with everything you need to return to the comforts of home: toaster, filter coffee maker, Nespresso percolator...*In the kitchen, which opens onto the living room and the Stub, you'll find all the equipment you need: fridge/freezer, microwave oven, glass-ceramic hob and traditional oven, dishwasher. And, of course, all the essential kitchen utensils. The lounge area features 2 sofas, including a pull-out sofa for 2 extra beds, so you can enjoy family time together, watching TV or reading, comfortably installed in a bright atmosphere, overlooking a small cobbled street leading to the town hall.
There are 2 bedrooms in this apartment, each with its own charm:- the first, with its old-fashioned charm, large polychrome wardrobe and stained-glass windows, overlooks the small inner courtyard. Here you'll find a 140x200 cm bed.- the second overlooks the street and is bathed in light. This larger room is perfect as a master bedroom, with its comfortable 160x200cm bed. The antique wardrobe alone offers the desired charm.A magnificent bathroom, in harmony with the setting, awaits you, allowing you to take a shower too. The period bathtub on a “Lion's Paw” stand is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing and walking. For a fuller description of the house and the village of Hunawihr, click on the link below :
